Frapadingos

frapadingos

Let’s go : Cuba, Argentina, Peru, Brazil ! » Frapadingos is the latest project from eccentric percussion lover Minino Garay that comes with banging drums of all sizes.  Eyes alert and beret firmly planted, he conducts a group of twelve talented percussionists comprising three Cubans, three Argentinians, three Peruvians, three Brazilians and a jungle of rhythms and melodies. Not happy to just tap their skin or pieces of wood, they also all like to sing accompanied by a supportive guitar and saxophone (a little poetry in a world that’s both cruel and kind). Whether singing in Portuguese or Spanish, always untranslated, they evoke celestial forces, call on sacred divinities and summon the holy fire of music. This folklore makes a whole continent jump and the earth tremble from the terreiros in the Northeast to the snowy tops of the Andes. Frapadingos is the telluric power of Latin America, so get into the trance.
